About Us
The Association
Registrarte, the Italian Association of Registrars of Artworks, was born of the need to create a network of communication and collaboration among professionals active in the field of the organization of exhibitions and the management of the borrowing of artworks, and as such the association serves as a reference point for all those who are committed to raising the professional standards of the sector.
The primary aim of the Association is to define and promote the professional profile of the Registrar (an English term introduced in the 50s to identify the profession), by promoting a range of initiatives designed on the one hand to facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences and on the other to foster a greater understanding and awareness of the role in museums and exhibition venues.
Registrarte collaborates, in particular, with the relevant institutions in the definition and recognition of the professional profile. Moreover, the Association organizes and sponsors courses, seminars, studies and investigations into issues pertinent to the profession and edits and publishes academic and sector-specific studies.
In the sphere of higher education, the Association provides support to university faculty and academic authorities in the determination of degree programs and sponsors scholarships for students.
To facilitate the exchange of know-how, Registrarte maintains a website that provides a platform for ongoing discussion and organizational and legislative support, with references to pertinent procedures and legal norms. The Association also promotes national and international conferences and meetings, often in collaboration with international registrars’ associations. Finally, Registrarte offers consulting to all the professional figures, both public and private, engaged in the management of collections and the organization of art exhibitions.
